Description

Janette Phillips is an artist, designer and art mentor living in South Cumbria. Inspired by the gifts of nature and the seasonal changes around her, Janette’s work is full of movement, colour, boundless joy and appreciation. Known for her graceful mixed media floral and botanical paintings, Janette works from her Kendal studio where she creates her expressive work.

The sparkling abundance of nature inspires me daily, working directly from life I see the colours transcend and change before my eyes.  I distill my response through shape, colour and pattern.

I am fascinated by the marks and traces I can make upon paper, board and canvas. My paintings are fluid and develop through the interaction between myself, the marks I am making and the natural muse. As a result representation becomes secondary to the painting’s surface where tonal and compositional harmonies and tensions structure the final result.’ – Janette Phillips speaking in 2016

Janette has a full calendar of exhibitions with galleries across the UK in 2017 and her latest work is always in high demand. Art workshops for those looking to learn or improve painterly techniques are also held throughout the year.
