Trees are a recurring theme in my work at the moment – there are some beautiful woodlands and forests throughout Cumbria.
Thirlmere is a favourite spot with its stately Scots Pine and Larches against the backdrop of Helvellyn.
Further up on the fells there are Rowan and Silver Birch, Holly and Juniper, self-seeded into nooks and crannies, pioneering life in hard places.
Inspiration also comes from the wild places in Scotland.
These I love to interpret using Batik techniques and steam-fix dyes on silk.
