Young Cumbrian Artist of the Year Award and Exhibition 2017 held at the Vallum Gallery, University of Cumbria.

Artists from or studying in Cumbria, aged 15-24 were invited to enter the competition to help develop their practice and career as an artist working in any medium.

Eden Arts received over 50 entries to the competition from Young Artists working across Cumbria. Alan Stones (People’s Choice winner of the Cumbrian Artist of the Year 2015), Karen Babayan (winner of the Cumbrian Artist of the Year 2016) and Adam Story (winner of the Young Cumbrian Artist of the Year 2016).

The winner of the Young Cumbrian Artist of the Year 2017 was Emeli Hartness winning the £500 prize. The five shortlisted artists were Dominic Richardson, Millie Davies, Marisa Crane and Laurie Nuttall. The long-listed entrants feature below.
